Fly Fishing in Minnesota

Minnesota: showing us how it is done.

From KSTP:
A Minnesota man may have caught a record-setting muskie on Monday.
Robert Hawkins said the fish was 57 inches long and that he caught it on Mille Lacs Lake.
What makes it a spectacular and possibly a record-setting catch? Hawkins said he caught it using a fly rod.
“It was right on the money, 50 pounds,” Hawkins said.
Hawkins said he watched the fish catch his fly but didn’t realize how large it was until it turned sideways.
“At that point, my jaw dropped and my whole person changed,” he said.
Hawkins said he made the fly he used himself and that it took two hours to create. He said he now plans to start making a lot more.
The catch has not officially been determined to be record-setting.
